The last time I saw Sir Terry Wogan was in the spring of 2014.
I was doing radio and TV promotion for the Timeless album and Terry was kind enough to have me on his Sunday morning radio show.
We chatted, I sang a song or two and Sir Terry was as gracious and funny and calming to be around as he ever was.
Whenever he played a Hook record on his radio show in the 70s he would usually back introduce it by saying 'That was Dr Hook featuring the voice of Dennis Locorriere'.
Believe me, back when it might have been uncertain to the listening audience just who was doing what, it was nice to get some singular recognition.
And he always pronounced my surname correctly!
In this day and age where no one retires and an artist's creativity is expected to continue on until the very end, our favorites are taken away suddenly, while we're waiting to enjoy their next endeavour.
It's been a sobering year on that score so far.
Sir Terry Wogan was a class act.
British broadcasting is poorer for the loss. ~
